How to Vote in the Democratic Primary

There are several different ways to vote in the Democratic primary election on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, allowing you to choose the most convenient way to make your vote count.

1. Mail Ballot

The deadline for applying to vote by mail in the Democratic primary is Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM. Mail ballots will be sent to all voters who completed and returned their mail ballot application before this deadline.

You can either bring the completed application to your local Board of Canvassers in-person or mail it to them.

Track the status of your application and mail ballot here.

Once you receive your mail ballot, read the instructions and fill it out. You can then place it in any mailbox or drop it off in any official mail ballot drop box. Locally, there are drop boxes located outside of City Hall in both Cranston and Providence or the Board of Elections at 2000 Plainfield Pike in Cranston.

If you have not applied for a mail ballot by August 20, you must either vote early in-person at your designated early voting location (see below), at your assigned polling location on election day, or request an emergency mail ballot from your local board of canvassers.

2. Early In-Person Voting

You can also vote early by casting your vote during the early in-person voting period from August 21 - September 10. The early voting period ends at 4:00 PM on September 9 regardless of business hours.

If you live in Cranston, you can vote early at the Peter T. Pastore, Jr. Youth Center during regular business hours (weekdays, except Labor Day, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM). Early voting in Cranston will also be available on Saturday, September 7 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
